Cornell Cooperative Extension’s recent appointment of Valerie Walthert as an agricultural economic development specialist in Oswego County, reflects a significant emphasis on the importance of the agribusiness industry in this region, according to Paul Forestiere II, Executive Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County.
The Oswego County Legislature recognized champion weightlifter Juan R. Collazo with a certificate at their December meeting. The 61-year-old Fulton resident is coached by Dave Eddy, also of Fulton, and currently holds five state records, five national records and two world records.
Seven more people have successfully completed the Oswego County Drug Treatment and Family Court programs. The alternative to the program can be state prison – or worse. So many more people are taking advantage of the program than ever before, a court official said.
The Oswego County Emergency Management Office announces that the system of emergency notification sirens surrounding the three nuclear power plants at Nine Mile Point will be tested during the week of February 1 through 5. Tests will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. This quarterly testing will include individual activation of each siren.
