Milestone: Bennett Honored For 15 Years With County

The Oswego County Legislature’s Public Safety and Emergency Services Committee recognized Terry Bennett for 15 years of service to the county. Bennett is the emergency services program coordinator with the Oswego County Emergency Management Office. The Oswego County Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee recently presented Kate Caltabiano with a certificate of appreciation for 25 years of service. Caltabiano is the director of patient services for the nursing division of the Oswego County Health Department. Burr is a support examiner with the Oswego County Personnel Department and celebrated 25 years of service to the county. Oswego County is Still Offering H1N1 Vaccine; Flu May Make A Comeback

Dr. Dennis Norfleet, Oswego County Public Health Director, says there is plenty of H1N1 flu vaccine for Oswego County residents. Appointments can be made online or by calling the Health Department at 349-3547.Dr. Dennis Norfleet, Oswego County Director of Public Health, would like to stress the importance of staying healthy and getting vaccinated against H1N1 this flu season.

Health experts are expecting another wave of H1N1 to hit sometime in February. There is still time to get vaccinated against H1N1 flu.

Champion Weightlifter Honored By Legislature

The Oswego County Legislature recognized champion weightlifter Juan R. Collazo with a certificate at their December meeting. The 61-year-old Fulton resident is coached by Dave Eddy, also of Fulton, and currently holds five state records, five national records and two world records. A former heavy equipment operator for the county, Collazo was recognized in 2008 and 2009 by the World Natural Powerlifting Federation as the top weightlifter in his age group and among the top ten lifters in his 165-pound weight class. Graduates Are On Road To Recovery

Seven more people have successfully completed the Oswego County Drug Treatment and Family Court programs. The alternative to the program can be state prison – or worse. So many more people are taking advantage of the program than ever before, a court official said.



Quarterly Siren Tests Scheduled Feb. 1 – 5

The Oswego County Emergency Management Office announces that the system of emergency notification sirens surrounding the three nuclear power plants at Nine Mile Point will be tested during the week of February 1 through 5. Tests will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. This quarterly testing will include individual activation of each siren.
