Freshman Luke Moodie (Burlington, Ont.) tallied two goals and an assist to lead the top-ranked Division III team.

To help determine the final 32 student-athletes who will participate in the skills challenge, the NCAA has incorporated a fan-voting element. Fan voting begins Monday, Feb. 1.

The Oswego State Mens Club Hockey team hosted rival Cortland recently and fell just short of defeating the Red Dragons at the Campus Center Ice Arena. Falling behind 2-0, the Lakers battled back to come within 1 goal but, even with the Laker goalie being pulled, couldn’t put the puck in the net for the tie.

“We always look forward to Hockey Alumni Weekend,” said Lakers head coach Ed Gosek. “It’s great motivation for our current team to have former players and teammates in the house and nice to catch up with them and their families over the course of the weekend. This year it will be even more special as our booster club has promised to turn over the proceeds from their nightly 50/50 raffle to the local chapter of the Red Cross.”

Eric Leusch (Sr., Rochester, N.Y.) recorded his 20th win of the season at 285 pounds, but it would not be enough as the Oswego State wrestling team fell to Brockport 33-12 in a dual meet on Wednesday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium.

Oswego State men’s ice hockey player Jon Whitelaw (Fr., Huntsville, Ont.) has been named the SUNY Athletic Conference Men’s Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 25, 2010.

Despite a five week break, the Oswego State Mens Club Hockey Team started off 2010 on a winning note by defeating both RIT and Syracuse in non-league games.

The Oswego State Athletic Department has announced that the Oswego State men’s hockey game versus Plattsburgh on Saturday, January 30 is sold out, including student seats and standing-room spaces.

Rachel Kohrs (Sr., New Lebanon, N.Y.) hit the game-winning shot with 10.6 seconds remaining to give the Oswego State women’s basketball team a 45-43 victory against New Paltz on Tuesday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
