Rally to ‘Save Michaud’ Brought Concerned Elected Officials, Community Members

After the sudden announcement of the intended closure of Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton, the community banded together to show their support of the residents and employees that will be impacted. Organizer Marc Holliday said 113 jobs are on the line with the intended closure, though some of those staff members have been offered employment opportunities with St. Luke’s, the owner of Michaud whose CEO Terry Gorman cited financial struggles as the reason for closure. 65 residents, he continued, are forced to relocate to other accommodating facilities, some local and some not.

Parents Rally Against Bullying at Oswego Board of Education Meeting

In the wake of multiple bullying incidents that have been brought to light at Oswego High School, a group of parents banned together to rally for answers as well as stricter policies and consequences for bullies. The rally members came in the form of parents, family members and even a student that was bullied herself to face the board members and district superintendent to address the issues of bullying that they believe have become so predominant in Oswego City School District.

Second Half Rally Not Enough In State Lady Lacrosse Semifinal

An outstanding second half of play couldn’t make up for the halftime deficit as the Oswego High School girls’ lacrosse team finished the season losing to Brighton 15-9. Oswego, playing at SUNY Cortland, saw its season come to an end in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class B Championship semifinal.
