A cooperative effort between the Oswego City School District and the City of Oswego resulted in the planting of several trees in celebration of Arbor Day.
The Oswego Firefighters Association recently planted a tree at Elim Grace Church in memory of their fallen brother Scott Davis. Elim Grace donated food and the use of its rectory during Scott’s service last year.
Christmas tree fires are not common, but when they occur, they are likely to be serious.
Hundreds brave the chilly temperatures and brisk winds for the annual ceremony. The city’s holiday tree was lit Thursday night in Civic Plaza. The winners of the scholastic holiday poem contest were announced. And, Santa greeted scores of youngsters eager to tell him their Christmas wish lists.
‘A Country Christmas’ was highlighted by open houses showcasing sales for the Christmas season, music by a brass band, the annual tree lighting in the village square and of course a visit by Santa Claus.
Willow Tree Farms, an Oswego-based equestrian center located on West Lake Road in the Town of Oswego, will be holding “Christmas at the Farm,” a holiday mini-camp for children aged 6-12 on Dec. 6 and 13 from 9 a.m. to noon.
