Abigail Marie Janes was born in Oswego Hospital on Nov. 7, 2012.

She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 20 inches long.

She is the daughter of Nikita Dodge and Paul Janes, of Oswego.

Regular Quarterly Tests of Nuclear Sirens Begins Aug. 3

The Oswego County Emergency Management Office has announced that the regularly scheduled quarterly tests of the current emergency notification sirens surrounding the three nuclear power plants at Nine Mile Point will take place Aug. 3, through 7, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. These tests are separate from the full-scale testing of the new siren system recently installed by the nuclear power plants.

Scriba Man Sentenced To Prison on Drug Charges

Emmanuel A. Frederick (dob: 5/12/59) of Scriba, NY, was sentenced today (July 28) in Oswego County Court to 9 years in state prison, along with 3 years post-release supervision, on each of three separate counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony. On July 2, a jury found Frederick guilty of the three felonies after a four-day trial in Oswego County Court.

Nominations Sought For OHS Athletic Hall of Fame

Nominations are being accepted for additional candidates for 2016 induction into the Oswego High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The Oswego Buccaneer Boosters sponsor the hall of fame and the induction ceremony. All nominations are held by the hall of fame committee for future consideration.

AmeriCorps Members Planning Food Drive

Two members of the Oswego County AmeriCorps are organizing a food drive to help out a local food pantry in Fulton. Eve Simmonds and Paige Havener will be in Voorhees Park, across from the Fulton Education Center, on July 31 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. as well as August 1 and 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to collect your donations.
