Angelina R. TalamoAngelina R. Talamo, 94; of Fulton died Wednesday at Michaud Residential Health Services, Fulton.  She was born in Fulton to the late Angelo and Rose (Crai) Vescio.  Mrs. Talamo has resided in Fulton for most of her life.  She was formerly employed with Sealright Co., Fulton having retired in April of 1983.  She was a member of the Fulton V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #569 and Catholic Daughters Court Pere LeMoyne #833.  Mrs. Talamo was pre-deceased by her husband John G. Talamo in 1980, and son John A. Talamo in 1963.

She is survived by her daughter Paula (William) Rohn of Fulton, siblings:  Joseph Vescio, Sam Vescio, Ellen McGraw, and June Johnston all of Fulton, granddaughter Karen (Randy) Stoughtenger of Baldwinsville, NY, step grandchildren:  Denyse (Jeff) McCoy of IA; William (Wendy) Rohn, of MI, Cindi Alt of MI, Cheri Rohn of Liverpool, NY, Derry (Pat) Micale of Cicero, NY and Steve (Teresa) Rohn, of TN, and 1 great grandson Nate Stoughtenger.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., Rev. Robert Stephenson officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.  Calling hours will be held 9:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday in the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Fulton.

Laker men’s ice hockey team opens season with a win

The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team opened its 50th year with an impressive 5-3 win over the U.S. National Under-18 team on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 3,000 at the Marano Campus Center Arena. Oswego will start the regular season at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 when its travels to Buffalo State for a SUNYAC matchup.

Oswego State women’s ice hockey Tops Castleton in exhibition

The Oswego State women’s ice hockey took to the ice for an exhibition contest on Saturday, defeating the Toronto Midget Aeros 2-0 at the Marano Campus Center Arena. Oswego’s regular season will begin at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31as it travels to face Castleton State College.

Dozens Of Volunteers Resurrect East Park Playground

Several Oswego DPW workers and dozens of Novelis employees gave up their Saturday to help rebuild the playground in Washington Square (East Park). Not only have they added new and safer equipment but three new flower beds were also added to the park. “It’s going to look really nice when it’s done,” Councilor Eric VanBuren said. “It’s a big change; a big change from what it was.”

Laker Men’s Soccer Earns 6th Seed Despite Loss Saturday

Oswego State men’s soccer team lost a 4-0 contest against Cortland on Saturday afternoon at Jets Field. The Lakers drop to 4-10-2 overall and 3-5-1 in conference play. Despite the loss, Oswego nabbed the No. 6 seed in next week’s SUNYAC Championship and will face No. 3-seeded Brockport on the road.

Oswego State women’s soccer team ends season with a win

The Oswego State women’s soccer team capped off its regular season with a 3-1 victory over Cortland on Saturday afternoon at Laker Soccer Field. With the win, Oswego improves to 6-7-3 on the year and 3-3-3 in conference play. Despite the win, Oswego was eliminated from SUNYAC Championship contention with Plattsburgh’s 4-1 win over Brockport.
