Cortini’s and Cleaners Collaborate to Collect Coats for Cold Kids

A coterie of Fulton school children will have cozy winter coats thanks to two local business owners and the generosity and kindness of the community. Joe Cortini, owner of Cortini Shoe Zipper Canvas Repair and Jeanne McManus, owner of Ontario Star Cleaners have teamed up with Fairgrieve Home and School to collect, clean, repair and distribute gently used coats, hats and mittens to students in the district.

New Operating Hours for Solid Waste Transfer Stations Will Begin in January

Beginning Jan. 1, Oswego County solid waste transfer stations will be open four days a week. All of the transfer stations will continue to be open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. Weekdays hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Manor To Host Program for Alzheimer Caregivers

Community members caring for those with Alzheimer’s are invited to attend a free three-part program to be held December 3, 10 and 17 at 4 p.m. at The Manor at Seneca Hill in the ground floor conference room. This series is designed to provide caregivers with the knowledge, tools and strategies needed to cope with a diagnosis of Alzheimers or related dementia.

Leighton Read-A-Thon Winners Named Principals Of The Day

The Leighton Elementary School recently held its annual Read-A-Thon. Participating students set a goal of at least 240 minutes of reading over a 10-day period. Students tracked their reading from in and out of school.
