The heat and humidity didn’t deter Oswegonians from purchasing their favorite fruits, vegetables and sweets or just meeting their friends downtown. Thursday was SUNY Oswego night at the market and many college students were among the dozens of market-goers.

We are projecting more than 3,000 reports for the year if the pace of reports continues at this level. Last year we ended with 2,757. This is a 9.4 percent increase over 2009 and a 31.5 percent increase over the last two years. We’re averaging about 251 reports a month, that’s pretty significant, the commissioner said.

Oswego County Public Health Director Dr. Dennis Norfleet said this afternoon that a horse in the Town of Albion has succumbed to Eastern equine encephalitis. It is the second horse to test positive for the disease this year in Oswego County.

The goal is to not only bring the Oswego community together through Greg Mortenson’s book (Three Cups of Tea), but also raise awareness and encourage a world view that advocates understanding and tolerance.

There will be a 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. There will even be events around the state to mark the anniversary. But there won’t be a commission to pull the events together and promote tourism for those events, including events at Fort Ontario.
