Fulton Woman Killed in Crash, Passenger Hospitalized

On 11/23/2012 at 11:53 p.m., members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Volney Fire Department and Menter Ambulance Service responded to a one-car fatal motor vehicle accident on Silk Road in the Town of Volney.

The driver, Karen Henderson (D.O.B. 10/27/1968) of Fulton, was killed when her 1998 Pontiac Sunfire exited the roadway and struck a tree, according to deputies.

The only other passenger of the vehicle, Brittany Thompson (D.O.B. 03/28/1973) was transported to Oswego Hospital.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.

Oswego School Budget Plans Waiting On State Action

Superintendent Ben Halsey said that while “building the revenue side of the budget” there is no assistance from the State of New York. Governor Andrew Cuomo is not allowing “running the numbers” for state aid. This “run” usually allows school district officials to commence budget planning, but it appears that Albany isn’t going to run the preliminary state aid numbers until the budget is in place. “We are left out in the dark while the political games plays out,” Halsey said.
