Hannibal Army National Guard Soldier Promoted

LATHAM, NY – Major General Patrick A. Murphy, The Adjutant General for the State of New York, announces the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

Jeremy Caster from Hannibal serving with the 466th Medical Company, Area Support is promoted to the rank of Private First Class.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential.

These promotions additionally recognize the best qualified Soldiers and attract and retain the highest caliber Citizen Soldiers for a career in the New York Army National Guard.

Oswego County Sends Highway Crews and Equipment to Buffalo

Oswego County is lending some of its snow removal expertise and equipment to the city of Buffalo to assist in the removal of this week’s massive lake effect snowfall. County Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner approved a request from the State Office of Emergency Management Thursday afternoon for additional snow removal assistance. “We’re used to these types of events and are certainly happy to help them out,” said Chairman Gardner.

SUNY Oswego’s Waterbury Hall to take fast track to renewal

Waterbury Hall, a 211-bed residence hall that opened in 1960 along the lakeshore at SUNY Oswego, will close to residents by Dec. 13, be emptied of all its contents by Dec. 22 and reopen in August 2015 after $8.8 million in renovations.

Annual Run for the Pies Benefit Planned

Before settling down to eat your turkey or prepare your house for guests this Thanksgiving, why not get a little exercise in and help the Salvation Army and Human Concern Center of Oswego? The Run for the Pies, now going for 15+ years, does just that! Every Thanksgiving morning, a group of runners and walkers meet at the Oswego YMCA to do a 5K run/walk before dinner.
