Northwest flow to bring lake snows southeast of Lake Ontario.
A trough of low pressure extending across northern New England will maintain a northwesterly flow into this evening, weakening as high pressure builds south from Canada. This will bring lake effect snow southeast of Lake Ontario.
Lake effect bands will diminish in intensity late afternoon, ending this evening.
The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a lake effect snow advisory, which is in effect until 7 pm est this evening. Expect an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow this afternoon into this evening, with a storm total including snow from last night of 4 to 8 inches in most persistent bands.
Lake effect snow bands will continue into this afternoon, diminishing in intensity late afternoon into this evening.
Snowfall rates of an inch an hour can be expected in lake effect snow bands.
