Birds Eye Is Being Sold To World’s Largest Investment Company; Deal Includes Fulton Factory

The Birds Eye logo.The company that changed the way America eats is being sold.

Birds Eye Foods, which employs about 250 people at its plant in Fulton at last word, is being bought by Blackstone Group LP’s Pinnacle Foods Group for $1.3 billion.

Fulton Officer’s Car Hit By Alleged Wrong-Way Drunken Driver

<p> </p>A Fulton Police Department vehicle was involved in a crash with a car driven by a man police say was drunk and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

Fulton Police allege that officer Jeremy Algarin was driving along S. Fourth St. at about 9:12 p.m. Thursday when his car was hit by a vehicle driven by Peter Wahlstrom of Fulton.

Oswego County Jobless Rate Falls

Unemployment in Oswego County continued to back down from recent highs, falling to 9.2% in October, according to the New York State Labor Department.

The jobless rate stood at 9.4% in September and had hit the 10% level earlier in the year.  A year ago, the jobless rate was just beginning to rise.  It stood at 6.6%.

State Announces Cleanup Of County Tire Dump

<p>The state announced today that cleanup of the tire dump in West Monroe is nearly finished.</p>

The state’s largest tire dump is no longer in Oswego County.  State, county and local officials gathered at the Fortino Tire Yard today to announce that cleanup of the site is nearly 100 percent complete. It had been the largest tire dump in the Empire State.

Fulton Holds Public Hearing On Construction Plan, But There Was Almost No Public To Hear It

The Fulton City School District was legally obligated to hold Wednesday night’s public hearing on its $3.85 million proposed construction project.

The public was not legally obligated to show up.

Hannibal’s Burridge Scores 25 But Lakers Lose Basketball Opener

The Oswego State men’s basketball team lost its season opener 82-71 to Utica at Max Ziel Gymnasium on Tuesday night. Second half shooting proved to be the difference in the contest as the Pioneers shot 55.2 percent from the field on 16-of-29 shooting, while the Lakers went 14-of-39 for 35.9 percent.
