Joyce A. Malone, 70, a resident of 128 Tug Hill Road, Town of Oswego, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 23, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her loving sister, Louise Saffell by her side.

Joyce was born November 12, 1940 in Ardsley, New York, the daughter of Harry and Velma Medovich.

She graduated from Ardsley High School in 1958. Her senior sentiment was how she lived her life, “A Merry Heart Goes All The Day”. Joyce also attended SUNY Oswego.

Joyce loved her family and enjoyed going annually to Sea Breeze with her grandchildren and the NY State Fair with her son-in-law John and daughter Brenda. She also enjoyed many birthday lunches and shopping trips with her daughters.

She loved to bake and cook. Joyce was very creative and enjoyed trying new recipes. She was a gracious hostess and there was always something cooking on the stove or in the oven to share with family and friends. Homemade candies and cookies were a Christmas tradition.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, fishing and antiques. She will be remembered for her generosity and kindness for the majority of things that she made and gave away.

She loved the outdoors, her flowers, vegetable garden and birds that came to her feeders. Joyce always had a compassionate heart for any animal that came into her life. She loved and will be missed by her pets, Vanilla, a black lab, and Taz, a tiger cat.

Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Brenda (John) Eddy, of the Town of Oswego and Barbara (Michael) Visco, of Pulaski; and one son, Joseph Malone and his companion Kathy Kintz, of Oswego; three grandsons and one granddaughter and a sister, Louise Saffell of Palmetto, Florida.

She was predeceased in 2010 by her husband, Ralph R. Malone.
