Lewis-Jefferson ATV Association Endorses Aubertine

State Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine accepted the endorsement of the Lewis-Jefferson County ATV Association Friday, saying he will continue to work toward creating a safe, well-maintained trail system that will continue to fuel the ATV tourism industry.

“We endorse Sen. Aubertine for his record of working for us,” said Richard Seller, president of the association. “He came to our political awareness ride on Sept. 20 and after riding with him and talking to him, we feel even more confident that he has our best interests in mind.”

Sen. Aubertine participated in the ride and mid-way through the ride on private trails addressed the group about his efforts to protect the rights of ATV riders and re-open critical truck trails. The senator worked with the DEC to have critical trails in the Winona State Forest Preserve re-opened to ATVs for a link between trails in Jefferson and Oswego counties.

“I’m proud to have the support of this organization, which is working to increase tourism to our growing ATV trail system,” Sen. Aubertine said. “I’ve believe that a safe, well-maintained trail system that gives riders a place to go is in the best interest of our region, both for the sport and for our economy. ATVers want to be on trails and I will continue working to make sure they can develop a system for them to use.”

“We stand behind Senator Darrel Aubertine for his efforts to get the DEC to open truck trails in Jefferson County. We thank him for his willingness to have an open dialog with us,” said Bob Diehl, Lewis County Trail Coordinator. “He continues to support our grant efforts to promote and expand our trail systems. We support his bid for re-election.”
