OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego City School District Board of Education recognized retiring Oswego High School Social Studies teacher Patricia Runeari during the regular board meeting on November 13.

Runeari has served the education needs of students in  the Oswego City School District for more than 27 years.

Among those congratulating the newest district retiree were Board President John Dunsmoor, board member and former teaching colleague Tom DeCastro and Superintendent of Schools Bill Crist.

Local Man Arrested For Phoenix Drugstore Robbery

A local man accused of robbing drugs at gunpoint from the corner drugstore in the village of Phoenix was caught by police Thursday (Dec. 18) and arraigned in Schroeppel Town Court on five felony and misdemeanor charges.

Cody M. Hall, who turned 22 years-old on Thursday, of county Route 10, Pennellville, was apprehended in the town of Cicero Thursday morning by several police agencies.

Teacher’s Penny Fundraising Campaign Leaves Its Mark On Students, Community

As Hannibal High School teacher Arlene Laut gears up for retirement at the end of the school year, a classroom project she spearheaded a decade ago is also drawing to an end. A massive penny collection effort, which was launched in an elective class Laut taught several years back, aimed to teach students the human cost of the Holocaust by having each penny represent a life.

Hannibal Seniors Present ‘Attack Of The Zombies’

Although Halloween is just a distant memory, that didn’t stop a group of zombies from invading Hannibal High School recently for the annual senior play. “Attack of the Zombies” kept audience members entertained and on the edge of their seats during the two-night run. Playing on the zombie theme made popular through network television hits such as “The Walking Dead,” nearly 30 senior classmen took the stage for the performances.

CiTi Students Bring Warmth To Homeless Youth This Holiday Season

The Exceptional Education program at CiTi teamed up with Oswego County Opportunities to bring the gift of warmth to nearly a dozen youth in need throughout the area. Students in grades seven through 12 worked alongside their teachers as they followed directions and learned about generosity to create and donate 10 blankets to OCO programs that aid homeless youth.
