WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 AM EST SATURDAY.

* LOCATIONS…OSWEGO COUNTY.

* TIMING…THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.

* HAZARDS…DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS.

* WINDS…NORTHWEST 10 TO 20 MPH.

* WIND CHILLS…20 TO 30 BELOW ZERO.

* IMPACTS…BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILLS WILL POSE A RISK FOR FROST BITE AND HYPOTHERMIA FOR ANYONE OUTSIDE FOR EVEN SHORT PERIODS OF TIME.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND CHILL WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN A STRONG WIND WILL COMBINE WITH COLD TEMPERATURES TO CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS FOR EXPOSED SKIN. THE WIND WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS 25 DEGREES BELOW ZERO OR COLDER FOR SEVERAL HOURS.

THOSE PLANNING TO VENTURE OUTDOORS SHOULD USE COMMON SENSE AND DRESS WARMLY.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN STRONG WIND WILL COMBINE WITH COLD TEMPERATURES TO CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS FOR EXPOSED SKIN.

THE WIND WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS 15 DEGREES BELOW ZERO OR COLDER FOR A PERIOD OF SEVERAL HOURS.

IF YOU WILL BE OUTDOORS USE COMMON SENSE AND DRESS WARMLY MAKING SURE THAT ALL EXPOSED SKIN IS COVERED.

IF POSSIBLE AVOID PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THE COLD TO PREVENT FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA.

Oswego Council Eyes Potential Parking Revenue

An Oswego councilor suggested the city start looking now at what to do with several parking spaces currently leased by the college. The spots are north of Washington Boulevard on Sixth Avenue. They will revert back to the city Jan. 1, 2016 and will be a potential revenue source, he added.

SUNY Walk-a-thon benefits United Way

More than 150 students and faculty walked through the pouring rain to assist United Way in its mission to end hunger, help youth succeed and improve the overall health and well-being of Oswego County. Organized by Vega, the Women’s Junior/Senior Honor Society, the walk-a-thon raised $745.

Oswego was named the No. 3 team in the country by USCHO.com on Tuesday night while D3hockey.com also placed the Lakers at No. 3 on Wednesday afternoon.
