Southwest Oswego UMC Sets Christmas Eve, Christmas Services

Southwest Oswego United Methodist Church, 7721 State Route 104, invites the community to attend worship on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

There will be two services offered on Christmas Eve. A “Family Christmas Eve Service”, offered at 7:00p.m., will include traditional Christmas carols, the Christmas story in scripture, and special music provided by the choir, a special Christmas choir and youth of the church. New this year will be a “Candlelight Christmas Eve Service” at 11:00p.m. This will be a service of carols, special musical selections, the story of Christ’s Birth and Holy Communion, all surrounded by candlelight. At midnight, the church bells will ring welcoming the arrival of Christmas.

On Christmas Day a service will be offered at 10:00a.m. at Oswego Center United Methodist Church, 2316 County Route 7. The Birthday of Jesus will be celebrated with lessons and carols.

Southwest Oswego United Methodist Church invites friends, old and new, to celebrate Christmas in family centered worship.

Oswego County Plans to Conduct Aerial Spraying Tonight

Nine Mile Point Unit 1 Offline

Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit 1 automatically shut down at 9:15 a.m. today (Sept. 4), when a steam valve closed during routine testing. Operators responded appropriately, and all systems functioned as designed. The shutdown does not present any risk to public health or safety.

August 2015 – A Tad Warmer, Drier Than Normal

August 2015 was warm, but not as warm as Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service, suspected. The average temperature for last month was 69.6 degrees. That’s just 0.2-degree above average. Total precipitation for the month came in at 0.91-inch below average.
