State Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Oswego County

Pulaski, NY – The State Police Pulaski are currently investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred at approximately 4:41 p.m. on Sunday on County Route 39 east of McCaw Road in the town of Redfield.

A 2005 motorcycle operated by Michael  J. Huzzy, 67, from  Lyons Falls, NY, was travelling eastbound on County Route 39 making a right turn into a parking lot  when he was struck by a 2001 motorcycle operated by Steven E. Parsons, 25, from 3552 Osceola Road in West Leyden, NY, causing both operators to be ejected, according tothe police report.

Both operators were transported to Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse, due to injuries.

Parsons is currently listed in stable condition.

Mr. Huzzy was pronounced deceased as University Hospital.

The investigation is continuing.

Search Under Way For New OHS Principal

The unexpected resignation of Oswego High School Principal Erin Noto has left the district scrambling to find a replacement prior to the start of the new school year. “It was unexpected and we are in the process of considering an interim for that position while we conduct a search for a new principal,” Superintendent Ben Halsey said at Tuesday night’s school board meeting. It was a “professional decision on Ms. Noto’s part,” he added.

EEE found in Oswego County

The Oswego County Health Department reported today (Aug. 4) that the Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus was found in three mosquito samples collected during routine testing near the village of Central Square and the Toad Harbor Swamp near West Monroe. The samples were collected July 27 and July 29 by the Oswego County Health Department and tested at the state health department’s Wadsworth Center Laboratories near Albany. The samples of mosquitoes are the first to test positive for the EEE virus in Oswego County this year.

Annual Tennis Carnival Set At Riley School Court

AmeriCorps members have offered the USTA Tennis Program at several sites around the county this summer. “The carnival is exactly our end of the year celebration!
