Oswego School Board Names New Officers
John Dunsmoor, the board’s vice president for the 2010-2011 academic year, was appointed president. Kathy Allen was named to fill Dunsmoor’s previous spot.
County legislators recently were updated on the work that’s under way on several of the new radio towers that will play a key role in upgrading Oswego County’s emergency radio communications system. The new interoperable radio system will be used by emergency responders to answer calls in all areas of the county – and across county lines. It will provide 97 percent coverage for portable radios used by emergency responders.
A move to reduce the number of administrators in the district by four came back to the table at Tuesday’s board of education meeting. Just as it did this spring, if failed to get the required support to pass. In other action, the board named a new law firm as the district’s attorney.
Oswego County is looking for the state’s cooperation in the development of a new comprehensive statewide interoperable communication network. To do that, a resolution has been presented, asking the state to tap the funding that is already collected through a Wireless Communications Service surcharge that the state imposes on cellular telephone bills.
