Flag Day Observed At Historic Fort Ontario
The British Flag was lowered and the American Flag was raised over historic Fort Ontario as a large audience, mostly elementary students, learned about the history of the flag and the fort, too.
Trinity Catholic School will be hosting Death in the Ivy Halls, an interactive murder mystery musical comedy dinner theater, on Friday, May 20, at the Oswego Elks Club. The fun begins with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and the show starting at 7 p.m.
In commemoration of Flag Day, a display of the many flags that have flown over Fort Ontario and the United States will be exhibited and explained by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Oswego Lodge #271. More than 250 school children will be at the old fort on June 14 at 10 a.m.
Just prior to the holiday season the Oswego Elks Lodge 271 representatives toured the local elementary schools and continued its support of area youth. For the seventh consecutive year the local fraternal organization has rallied to assist education with the donation of hundreds of student dictionaries to third graders throughout the Oswego City School District.
The sixth annual Oswego Middle School Top 50 Dinner is one of the academic highlights of the year.
