Do This Tonight: Jazz Fest Returns

It’s been a few years, but an old friend is back in town.

Fulton’s Jazz Fest opens tonight, renewing the festival that ran for years in downtown Fulton.  The event has a new home — behind the War Memorial.  Bring your own lawn chairs to enjoy two days of great music.

Below is tonight’s prime time entertainment, The Critics honr section with the Cortini Brothers rhythm section, seen here at Fulton’s Rock The Block event.

The full schedule:

Friday:
5:30 p.m.: The Do Good Swing Band
8:00 p.m.: The Critics with the Cortini Bros.

Saturday:
3:00 p.m.: Melvin Sparks
6:00 p.m.: Nancy Kelly
8:00 p.m.: Classified

Can’t make Jazz Fest?  How about the Fort Ontario Festival of the Arts on Saturday in Oswego or the annual Minetto Canal Splash fun canoe and kayak race at the Magic in Minetto festival.

Do Good Swing Band to Kick-Off Jazz Fest

<br />The swinging sounds of the Do Good Swing Band will kick-off Fulton’s Jazz Fest with a live performance on Friday, August 7th at 5:30 p.m.  Jazz Fest will be held Friday, August 7th from 5 to 11 p.m. and Saturday, August 8th from 3 to 11 p.m. behind the Fulton War Memorial on West Broadway in Fulton. Led by second-generation swing musician, Don Goodness, who began performing with professional dance bands at age 11, the Do Good Swing Band is an authentic 17-piece swing band that plays in the style of the great bands of the swing era such as Glen Miller and Jimmy Dorsey. The Do Good Swing Band is comprised of outstanding Central New York musicians and plays a mix of swing music that will satisfy dancers and listeners alike. […]
