District To Address Parents’ Concern Over Phys Ed Requirements
The president of the Oswego Board of Education said he’d work with some concerned parents to ensure their children get the required amount of physical education
The award was created several years ago to recognize businesses and community organizations that do “great things” for Oswego’s students. It celebrates and honors those who have made significant contributions to the betterment of the district and its children.
The Oswego City School District is already examining its options regarding finding a replacement for departed business manager Pete Colucci. Now, they have another administrative position to fill. At a brief special meeting Tuesday night, the board of education unanimously accepted the resignation of Amy DiVita as Director of Special Programs.
When Schroon Lake Central School District’s new superintendent takes over on July 1, she will bring a little bit of Oswego with her. At its April 14 meeting, the Schroon Lake board of education unanimously approved hiring Oswego Middle School Principal Bonnie Finnerty as the district’s new superintendent. “She was an effective leader as a building principal. She will be a wonderful superintendent,” said Oswego superintendent Bill Crist.
The Oswego City School District’s board of education recently heard recommendations to make the district safer, more efficient and better prepared for the future. The report contained recommendations for board action. There were also recommendations for Information / Technology, Business Department, schools and other departments.
“We haven’t reversed our position. There is too much money left on the table,†the president of the Oswego school board said. They feel Nine Mile I should be paying closer to $18 million rather than $11 million. However, by not joining the one-year deal, reps from the county and town say the school district runs the risk of receiving even less.
