Oswego – The Oswego County Emergency Management Office will offer a Basic Incident Command System course (ICS-200) for emergency workers and others who have responsibility during emergency response operations. The 12-hour course will begin Monday, Feb. 28, and will be held over four evenings.
This class is co-sponsored by the Emergency Management Office, Oswego County Fire Coordinator’s Office, and New York State Police.
The pre-requisites for this course are ICS-100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, and IS-700, NIMS (National Incident Management System): an Introduction.
The ICS-200 course is designed for federal, state, local, private sector and nongovernmental (including fire, emergency medical services, schools, and elected officials) personnel at the following levels of responsibility in emergency-management operations: first-line supervisor, mid-level management, and ICS command officers and general staff chiefs.
The course will cover the following topics: Leadership and Management, Delegation of Authority and Management by Objectives, Functional Areas and Positions, Briefings, Organizational Flexibility, and Transfer of Command.
The first night’s session will be held Monday, Feb. 28, from 6:15 to 9:30 p.m. at the Oswego County Emergency Response Training Center (fire coordinator’s office), 720 E. Seneca St. in Oswego. Subsequent sessions will be Wednesday, March 2, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.; Monday, March 7, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and Wednesday, March 9, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., all at a location to be determined.
