Robert M. Sharkey, 79, a resident of 400 Bunker Hill Road, Oswego, passed away, Thursday, September 25, 2008 at St. Josephs Hospital.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Charles and Hazel (Greenwood) Sharkey.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran.
He was employed as an Operating Engineer for the local Union #545 working on various construction sites throughout N.Y.S.
Bob was a local race fan and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.
Surviving are three daughters, Peggy (Dennis) Place, Jean (Barry) Pritchard, both of Oswego; Shirley (Ron) Fuss of Cicero; a son, Robert M. Jr. (Lori) Sharkey of Oswego; four brothers, Marshall (Esther) Sharkey and Harold (Dorothy) Sharkey, both of the Town of Oswego; Charles (Carrie May) of Hannibal and Earl (Barb) Sharkey of the Town of Oswego; two sisters, Edith Powers of Oswego and Ella Cooper of the Town of Oswego; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Sharkey in July 2008, three brothers, George Sharkey, Lloyd Sharkey and Glenn Sharkey.
Funeral Services will be held 10a.m. Saturday at the Nelson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Town of Oswego.
Calling Hours will be held 4-7p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St.
