Oswego Y Launches 2011 Strong Kids Campaign

Submitted by the Oswego YMCA

Oswego, NY – The Oswego YMCA is launching its Strong Kids Campaign to financially support individuals and families in need, so that they can participate in YMCA programs and services. Funds raised directly support the Y’s cause of strengthening communities by nurturing the potential of every youth and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being and providing opportunities to give back and support neighbors.

Providing financial support is critical to the Y’s goal of ensuring that everyone has access to programs and services that support their individual health and well-being.

“At the Oswego Y, we count on the generosity of our donors and volunteers to make a meaningful impact on our community,” said Jackie Sheffield, Membership & Financial Development Director, Oswego YMCA. “We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.” This year’s goal is $30,000. At press time, the Oswego Y is already at 45% of the 2011 goal. “Our donors have historically have been generous. Our volunteer Campaigners are great at sharing how the Oswego Y impacts our community, and are able to demonstrate how their continued support is critical to ensuring that all youth in Oswego have opportunity to participate in Y programs, ” said Sheffield.

Gifts to the Oswego YMCA make a direct impact to the community. Last year, financial support made it possible for: 264 kids to have a safe place to learn and build confidence after school; for 87 families to reconnect and grow together; and 54 people access to education and training to reach their full potential.
