Fulton Elementary Students Ready For All-County Orchestra Festival

FULTON – When the Fulton City School District hosts the All-County Orchestra Festival later this month, some of Fulton’s youngest string instrumentalists will be featured in ensembles.

The district’s beginner string program will showcase the introductory musical talents of several elementary students from Granby, Lanigan and Volney schools.

Leigh Bergman, elementary music and orchestra teacher, said the sixth grade participants will bring 1.5 years of experience with them during their March 23 performance at G. Ray Bodley High School.

“They are students who go above in beyond in their musical study to progress beyond what is expected of them,” she said. “The other schools that participate in All County start string instruction one year earlier so our kids work really hard to get to their level in a year’s time.”

Bergman said the festival is a fantastic experience for them to experience a larger-sized ensemble at a higher performance level.

The following FCSD elementary students also were ecstatic to be selected for All-County:

• Granby Elementary students: Lauren Bradshaw (violin 1), Braden Allen (violin 1), Madison McCarty-Castillo (violin 2), Summer Jones (cello), Orianna Romanowicz (cello), Cristofer Rodriguez Barrios (cello) and Maddison Weldin (bass).
• Lanigan Elementary students: Sarah Patrick (viola), Caitlin Scout (cello) and Ethan Bartlett (bass).
• Volney Elementary students: Deverick Reidell (cello), Nina Cunningham (cello), Carter Zimmerman (viola), Zyah DeMott (viola), Aidan Brewster (violin 1), Alyson Sheffield (violin 1), Cole Havens (violin 1), Gianna Tucker (violin 1), Audrey White (violin 2), Gracie Parry (violin 2), James DeCare (violin 2) and Willow Dumas (violin 2).
