The Fulton City School District Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program hosted an evening of magic at the recent Family Fun and Open Registration Night.
Current UPK students enjoyed a performance by the Twin Magicians while parents spent time with kindergarten teachers and other district officials discussing the transition from UPK to kindergarten.
Future UPK students were also invited to attend, giving them an opportunity to meet the UPK teachers and some of their future classmates.
The Fulton City School District UPK is a two and one-half hour morning or afternoon program offered at each elementary school in partnership with Oswego County Opportunities, First Step Universal Pre-K, and the Fulton YMCA.
The primary purpose of UPK is to provide four year old children future school success by developing strong skills in early literacy and numeracy.
The program is funded solely through a grant from the New York State Education Department and is free for district residents. Eligible children must turn four years old by December 1, 2013.
The Fulton City School District is still accepting applications for the 2013-2014 UPK program.
Registration packets are available at the main office of each elementary school, at the Registrar’s Office at the Ed Center or online at www.Fulton.cnyric.org.
