FULTON, NY – CNY Arts Center is excited to announce the next Dessert Theatre event will host master storyteller Matthew Wood and singer-songwriter Gina Holsopple onstage July 18 at 8 p.m.
Dessert Theatre Series offers an evening of special desserts and entertainment for one admission price at CNY Arts Center, River Glen Drive on the Cayuga Community College Campus.
Wood will weave a story (in true Wood storytelling form) in and out of the original songs Holsopple will perform for a unique evening of story, song and desserts.
Wood, host of On the Porch Radio Hour, is the premiere storyteller of Oswego County.
Weaving the moments of life that we love to remember and we love to forget, he brings characters and places to life with a vibrancy in this lost art.
In a world where we use technology to create for us, he brings back to life the notion that a story well told is just as good or better.
Holsopple is a songwriter, music teacher and dreamer.
Her music, like a tamed sort of bluegrass, has delighted audiences across the US. With a dynamic voice that fills the room, she has found her niche in the folk music community, painting her experience with words and melody.
Both are well-known to local audiences from their appearances at Oswego Music Hall throughout the year and have become active members at CNY Arts Center.
As an artist, Wood has participated in several art shows, and often serves as set painter for theatre productions.
Holsopple served as musical director for the successful Willy Wonka, Jr and Narnia.
She also teaches piano, voice and guitar lessons at the center and will be directing Glee club in July for Arty Camp.
They are also hosts of the annual Wooden Apple Music and Art Festival held Labor Day weekend at their farm in Palermo.
The weekend includes a songwriting contest, a home cooked pancake breakfast, and entertainment from local musicians.
The couple also hosts The Red Room Sessions at the Farm for aspiring songwriters and Red Room open mic night at CNY Arts Center several times throughout the year.
Dessert Theatre runs one night only filling the gap between larger full scale productions onstage as an alternative evening of great entertainment, great food and great company.
Tickets and reservations are available online at www.CNYArtsCenter.com or call 598-ARTS (2787).
