HANNIBAL, NY – Albert Jacob Meyers, 80, of Red Creek, formerly of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday March 20, 2012, at his home after a brief illness surrounded by loved ones at his side.
Albert took great pride in his 40-year career at Midstate Printing Corporation, where he served as a lithographer.
Albert served proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a radar man on the USS Scout.
He was a member of the American Legion Peterson Post #436 in Red Creek and Elks Lodge #1769 in Wolcott, NY.
Albert also served as an instructor for the arthritis aquatic program in Red Creek and as president of Hope Community Lutheran Church in Red Creek.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Margarete; and sister, Coralene Finger.
Albert is survived by his wife, Delores Kompe-Meyers; son, W. Bruce (Debi) Meyers of Savannah, Ga.; daughters, Terri E. (Michael) Farnsworth of Volney and Gail M. (William) Longcore of Manlius; stepchildren, Karl E. (Katie) Kompe of Arizona, Paul M. Kompe of Rochester and David V. (Ruth) Kompe of West Monroe; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Hope Community Lutheran Church, 6847 Main St., Red Creek.
Contributions in Albert’s memory may be made to a memorial fund c/o Hope Community Lutheran Church, Hospice of Wayne County or the American Legion of Red Creek.
