The American Red Cross of Central New York offers Babysitter’s Training to help provide participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. The recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old. In knowing the importance of this program, Alliance Bank has agreed to sponsor the Babysitter’s Training Program. Our partnership with Alliance Bank is very important to the Red Cross. This will help us continue to offer these classes and teach young people how to care for infants and children and handle any type of emergency, stated Branch Director Danielle Hayden. According to a Red Cross survey, parents have more confidence in hiring a Red Cross-trained babysitter to care for their children. Parents prefer hiring a sitter who has taken a class and knows what to do when caring for their children.
The next babysitting class is scheduled for April 9th, 9:00am-4:00pm at the Red Cross office in Oswego located at 333 West First Street. Spaces are still available. Please call 1-800-RED-CROSS to sign up.
