AmeriCorps Assists Oswego County Pregnancy Care Center

OSWEGO – During the month of March, AmeriCorps volunteers held a diaper drive to benefit the Oswego County Pregnancy Care Center.

With the help of the Oswego Community Christian School, dozens of packages of diapers and wipes were collected.

Because of the generosity of the local community, numerous families will receive the much needed necessities.

We would like to thank the community for the generous donations.

AmeriCorps is a federally funded program. The mission is to enhance services for children and families in Oswego County by providing nutritional education and fitness activities.

Oswego Couny has the highest obesity rates among children.

The AmeriCorps program helps with the involvement of community members in service projects that will benefit Oswego County, it also provides housing services for economically disadvantaged individuals and families.

There are 86 members in the Oswego County area that will serve with human service agencies, libraries, schools and municipalities, the Department of Social Services, Catholic Charities and Oswego Opportunities.

Their involvement will be a catalyst to encourage youth and adults to become involved in community service opportunities.
