SCRIBA – Calling all volunteers! Join AmeriCorps workers at Independence Trail in Scriba for some spring cleaning.
Independence Trail is a 70-acre property the rests alongside Lake Ontario shoreline.
It is also one of the only hiking trails in the county that is ADA accessible.
“Spring Cleaning” trail work will focus on raking trails, trimming branches, fixing board walks, trash removal, and clearing bushes and leaves from the observation point.
Some tools and work gloves will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own.
Our hosts for this event are Oswego County AmeriCorps members Liz Larkin and Julia Preston-Fulton.
Liz is an AmeriCorps member with the Oswego County Youth Court Program.
Julia is a member with the Oswego County Parks and Recreation Department.
The two have joined forces to plan and host their AmeriCorps community involvement project.
The trail cleanup will take place on May 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Those interested in volunteering can contact Liz at 315-349-8682 (pre-registration isn’t necessary, but it is helpful).
All ages and abilities are welcome.
Independence Trail parking area is located on Riker’s Beach Road, off of County Route 1A in Scriba (follow the signs).
