AmeriCorps Project Helps Clean Up Area

OSWEGO, NY – As a service-based outreach project, Oswego County AmeriCorps member Ashley Miller held a park cleanup with the kids of YMCA’s Camp Ontario recently.

The kids went out in groups and competed with each other to see how much trash they could pick up from their areas (soccer fields, train tracks and middle-school grounds).

Counselors of YMCA-Camp Ontario aided Ashley in her endeavor to beautify Oswego County.

As incentive for the children, whichever group picked up the most garbage received books for their efforts.

It was a great success and the children and counselors enjoyed themselves.
