OSWEGO, NY – Tim Ames has been awarded First Place in the Professional Fine Arts Painting Division at the 2012 New York State Fair for his painting, “Who’s That Chick?”
This follows closely on the heels of his First Place Award at he Central Adirondack Art Show in Old Forge as well as a First Place Award at the Fulton Art Association art show and a People’s Choice Award at the Central New York Art Guild show in Radisson.
When asked about his recent successes, Ames replied, ” It’s been pretty overwhelming and unexpected. I’m flabbergasted. It’s been one heck of a year.”
Ames, a former entertainer and restaurateur, is an Oswego native and owned the Rockin’ Robin Restaurant in downtown Oswego in the mid-1990s.
Ames’s oils and acrylics paintings capture the exciting landscape and waterscape of Oswego County and Central New York.
Michele Southgate was awarded a Second Place in Mixed Media in the Professional Fine Arts Division at the 2012 NYS Fair for her dramatic interpretation, “Blue Mountain Pines.”
Southgate is a retired Oswego Middle School art teacher.
Ames and Southgate are the founding members and driving force of the Lakeside Artisans in downtown Oswego, an artist’s co-op showcasing the works of talented local artists and dedicated to be a source of inspiration and pride for artists and the community.
