OSWEGO – The Oswego Players’ second production of its 80th anniversary season, David Javerbaum’s comedy “An Act of God” features a seasoned cast and crew though many of them are working with the Players for the first time.
“An Act of God” is a satiric view of what it might be like if God came back to earth to amend the mistakes He made with the original 10 Commandments, accompanied by two of his Archangels Michael and Gabriel.
The Oswego Players’ production of the play features a fine trio of actors including Matt Fleming as God, with Patrick Carmen and Tammy Wilkinson as the Archangels Michael and Gabriel.
In this endeavor, the cast is ably assisted by a experienced crew drawn from many places.
This includes director (Players’ president) Paul Mckinney, along with stage manager Alex Taylor, light designer Tom Fazzio and set designer Morgan Fazzio.
Taylor, originally from Louisiana, recently moved into the area from Mufreesboro, Tennessee.
She got her start performing and working backstage with the Mufreesboro Little Theater, where she appeared in “King Lear.”
She has also worked back stage in various productions including as a stage manager for MLT.
At the tender age of 22 she set herself a goal to eventually make her living as a professional actor.
The husband and wife team of theater technicians Tom and Morgan Fazzio recently started working with the Oswego Players having participated in some of the last few productions.
Tom Fazzio has been involved with Syracuse area stage productions since high school, working almost exclusively on the tech end. An employee of Syracuse University and a member of IASE Local 9, he also works as a stage technician at the new Lakeside Amphitheater in Syracuse.
Morgan Fazzio started her theater experience with productions at Mexico High School.
She recently appeared on stage in the Oswego Players’ production of “Grease” as Cha Cha, Kinicki’s less than pure girl friend from St. Bernadette’s.
The Fazzio’s children, Alli and Liam Kerr, also recently appeared with the Players in the December production of “The Nut Cracker” and in the Mexico High School production of “Footloose.”
The play is presented by special arrangement with Dramatist’s Play Service.
“An Act of God” is slated to be performed at the Francis Marion Brown Theater in Oswego on April 28 and May 4 and 5 at 8 p.m. and April 29 and May 6 at 2 p.m.
