Andersen Named Red Cross’s Dunkin Donuts Volunteer of the Month

Megan Andersen is the American Red Cross of Central New York – Oswego Branch Dunkin Donuts Volunteer of the Month for April. Megan has been with the Red Cross as an intern for the past four months.  She was brought to the Red Cross through a partnership for her capstone English class.  Megan is heavily involved in community service and community outreach at the college, and really wanted to work with an organization that promoted that.  She was drawn to the Red Cross because she felt she was a great fit for the type of writing they wanted produced and believes and supports the efforts that the Red Cross makes. Her main job is to create a comprehensive manual for the front reception desk and during that time has learned a lot about the office and the services that the Red Cross provides

The most rewarding experience since she has been with the Red Cross is on her first day here she was able to sit in on a meeting with a client. The client remained optimistic and positive the entire time, looking towards the future instead of the past. The client was genuinely grateful for the services the Red Cross could provide.  That has stuck with her the entire time that she has been with the Red Cross.

Megan would recommend other people to volunteer at the Red Cross, because they provide so many different services that no matter what your skill strengths are they can find a place for you.

Megan is from Scotia NY and is graduating in May from SUNY Oswego with a BS in English and a BS in Creative Writing. Some of her many community involvements are Alpha Phi Omega, Vega, (Junior and Senior Women’s Honor Society) and Omicron Delta Kappa (National Leadership Honor Society)  Megan hopes to continue volunteering at the Red Cross after she graduates.

Congratulations to Megan for being our Dunkin Donuts Volunteer of the Month for April!!!!
