Angelo “Midge” Scaccia, 82, of Oswego, passed away December 14, 2010 in Syracuse Hospital.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Achile and Mary (Falvo) Scaccia.

He was a US Army veteran and a recipient of a Purple Heart.

Midge retired from Eagle Beverage as a Forman. He previously worked as a Manager for Castrogiovanni in Oswego.

He was a member of the Softball Hall of Fame and the Charles Crisafulli Post 15. He was an avid bowler was a GIANTS and METS Fanatic.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathy (Craig) Batchelor; a brother, Frank (Sandy) Scaccia of Liverpool; two sisters, Angeline Audlin and Peggy (Mike) Famalaro, both of Oswego; two grandchildren, Ashlee and Kiley Batchelor; his companion of 32 years, Elaine Hammer and her children, Sue, Sondra, Sherri and Brent; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy J. (Reitz) Scaccia; brothers, Joseph, Ronald, Anthony and Jimmy Scaccia; sisters, Olivia Klefbeck, Barbara Gregg and Lena Allen.

Funeral Services will be held 10a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 3-7p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St.

  1. I am so glad for Midgie. I helped with his last Veterans Day dinner. I wheeled him to the transfer vehicle. I was very sad to see him with no legs. I hugged him and said, Midgie, ” Whaaaaatha—happened”? So—a lot of memories.
