ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Ann V. Wulfert, 66, a resident of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Fair Haven, New York, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010, after a long battle with cancer.
She was surrounded by family members during her last days.
Mrs. Wulfert was born in Oswego on February 2, 1944, the daughter of the late William and Veronica (Ross) White.
She was raised in Oswego and was a lifelong resident of the area.
She was the sixth generation of her family to have lived in Oswego.
As a young girl, Mrs. Wulfert attended Castle School and later entered the Campus School in Sheldon Hall at the Oswego State Teacherâ€™s College, now SUNY Oswego, where she graduated from ninth grade.
She then attended Oswego High School and was a graduate of the class of 1962.
Following graduation, she enrolled in the second class of the Oswego City School Districtâ€™s School of Practical Nursing from which she received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree in 1964.
Early in her career she worked for Community General Hospital in Syracuse.
She then became a surgical nurse in the Operating Room at the Oswego Hospital for more than 20 years and later worked for private practices in Oswego and Fulton from which she retired.
Mrs. Wulfert had a multitude of pastimes, including travel and a passion for reading.
She enjoyed various types of entertainment, including live shows and movies.
She had a knack for trivia, board games and playing cards.
Later in life she discovered the game of golf and participated in leagues at both the Easy Par and Tamarack golf courses in Oswego.
Most of all she enjoyed spending time with longtime friends, coworkers and her family.
On December 24, 1970, she was married to Richard (Rick) Buske, who predeceased her in 2000 after 29 years of marriage.
In 2004, she remarried to her childhood classmate William (Bill) Wulfert from the Campus School.
Since that time, she had lived in Fair Haven on Little Sodus Bay and spent the winters at her home in Zephyrhills.
Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Robert Hogan) Bennett of Oswego; a stepdaughter, Deborah Buske of Oswego; three stepsons, Jonathan Wulfert, Craig Wulfert and Andrew (Tia) Wulfert, all of Ontario; three granddaughters, Jill Familo of Atlanta, Georgia, Sarah (Melvin Cooper) Hogan of Fulton and Aubre Wulfert of Ontario; one great-grandson, Cameron Cooper of Fulton; three brothers, W. David (Sandy) White of Oswego, Richard (Kathy) White of North Syracuse and John (Sharon) White of Ontario; a sister, Kathy (David) Wahrendorf of Oswego; two brother-in-laws, Paul (Ellen) Buske of Auburn and Gary (Jean) Wulfert of Oswego; six nieces, Christina Chamberlain of Oswego, Patricia White and Carla White, both of Southern California, Lisa Efraimson of Ballston Spa, and Emily Wahrendorf and Vanessa Wahrendorf, both of Oswego; four nephews, John Paul White, Jr. of Penfield, Jerry White of Walworth, Justin White and David Wahrendorf, both of Oswego.
She is also survived by her aunts Virginia Leonard and Connie Goodall, both of Oswego, and many loving cousins.
Committal services will be held at a later date with a spring burial to take place in Riverside Cemetery in Scriba.
