Annual Banquet Honors Emergency Medical Services Providers


OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council will honor emergency medical services providers for outstanding patient care during its fifth annual awards banquet on May 11 at Bayshore Grove, 104 Bayshore Drive, Oswego.

The awards are chosen by a subcommittee of EMSAC and based on the actions of emergency medical services (EMS) providers in the calendar year 2011.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to the professionals who serve the community as emergency medical services providers in emergency care,” said EMSAC President Norm Wallis. “Last year, almost 20 of these highly-trained and compassionate people were honored.”

This year’s recipients include: Alan Dane and Bryan Easton as ALS Providers of the Year; Kelley Davis, Shawn Simoneu, Nathan Smith, Donald J. “D.J.” Ketcham Jr. as BLS Providers of the Year; David Engle and Michael E. McDonald as Educator of the Year; Eric Koproski with the Lifesaving Award; Erin McKinstry for RN of Excellence; Michael Montgomery with the Leadership Award; and Garret Snyder for Excellence in STEMI Care.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Derek R. Cooney, director of EMS and Disaster Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University.

The public is invited to the event, at a cost of $10 per person.

The evening begins at 5:30 p.m., with the awards ceremony beginning at 6 p.m.

Reservations with payment are due by May 4 to the Oswego County Emergency Management Office/Emergency Medical Services, 200 N. Second St., Fulton, NY 13069.

Sponsorships are still available, and include the following levels:

Gold ($1,500 and above): sponsors will be able to bring eight guests for a reserved table and see their business logo printed prominently in the event program.

Silver (up to $1,500): Sponsors will be able to bring eight guests for a reserved table and see their business logo printed in the event program.
