Antique Engines and Tractors Will Run Again at ‘Crank It Up’ Show Sept. 20- 21

SANDY CREEK – The Oswego County Fairgrounds in Sandy Creek will bustle with old engines, tractors, vendors and music at the Crank It Up! Antique Tractor and Engine Show on Sept. 20 and 21  at the Sandy Creek Fairgrounds. Admission is by donation. Parking is free.

“Our show is a family-friendly event that features vintage farm machinery, crafts, music, and traditional agricultural activities from the rural North Country,” said show organizer Doreen Macklen.

Founded nine years ago by Macklen, her husband, Dale, and son Jim, the show has grown into a “heritage show and tell” of North Country farms.

Visitors can see how fly wheels were used generations ago to run antique farm equipment, watch garden tractors compete against each other, and cheer on the operators in radio-controlled truck pulls.

New this year is a street legal truck pull, set for 7 p.m. Sept. 21. Tractor drivers will show off their skills Sept. 20 in the “antique” and “out of field” tractor pulls with transfer sleds. Not to be outdone, the Central NY Garden Tractor Pullers Association will hold lawnmower pulls in the “super modified” and “off the lawn” classes on Sept. 21.

“We strive to offer a little bit of everything to satisfy every member of the family,” said Doreen Macklen.

Lone Cow Poke Doug Corey of the Circle C Ranch in Phoenix will return with his authentic Circle C Cowboy Camp, a unique living history display.  Corey, who calls himself a “cowboyologist,” is a member of the Western Chuck Wagon Association and his camp is registered as completely authentic.

Dancing Goats Farms will have goats on hand, along with their popular goat milk soaps, and Two Chicks Farm will bring alpacas. Kids can play a variety of games and compete on a pedal tractor to see who can pull the heaviest load.

Other events include the FFA chicken barbecue, Hawks radio-controlled air show and a corn maze.

A variety of craft vendors and refreshments will be available.
