Appleseed Productions To Hold Auditions For “Goodbye, Charlie”

Goodbye Charlie logoAppleseed Productions will hold open auditions for its September production of George Axelrod’s comic-fantasy “Goodbye, Charlie”. on Sunday and Monday, June 29 and 30 from 7-9pm. Auditions will be held at Appleseed’s home, Atonement Lutheran Church, 116 West Glen Ave in Syracuse.

Set in 1960 during the era of the Rat Pack, “Goodbye, Charlie” tells the tale of Charlie Sorel, a Hollywood writer and infamous playboy who met his end at the hand of a jealous husband. Mourned only by his best-friend, George Tracy, life seemed to have shut the book on the poor scoundrel. That is until a beautiful young woman literally washes up on shore claiming to be the late-lamented Charlie Sorel.

With his tables turned, Charlie finds himself in a predicament of karmic proportions, while George finds that he is developing a disturbingly new appreciation for his old buddy.

The production, directed by William Edward White, who directed last season’s Playing with Fire: After Frankenstein. The play calls for seven actors, Four men and three women, ages 20s and up. Rehearsals will begin in late July. The production will run weekends from September 12 through September 27.
