PARISH – The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School Chapter of the National Honor Society held an Induction Ceremony recently where 10 new members were welcomed into the elite group.
More than an academic honor, the society’s four tenets of character, scholarship, leadership and service, represent the qualities that present members and new members exhibit in their lives.
Present members include: Mikenzie Barankovich, Sarah Britton, Sydney Brouse, Reed Corcoran, Austin Davis, Jaidin DeGraw, Christine Eckert, Megan Hart, Olivia Hoy, Breanna Kalwarovski, Brianna Lawrence, Maryanne Lazore, Abagail Mattison, Kerri Muckey, Kyler Nichols, Timothy Palmer, Hannah Porter and Kassidy Spoon.
Welcoming family and friends to the ceremony, Joe Olsen, Principal at APW Junior/Senior High School praised the students for their hard work and dedication in achieving this outstanding honor.
The student-led ceremony introduced each new inductee and shared the meaning behind the four tenets in the Spirit of the Torch candle-lighting portion of the ceremony.
The students were led in the membership pledge by Breanna Kalwarovski before being presented with their certificates by APW Superintendent of Schools Eric Knuth.
New inductees included: Marisa Barber, Anthony Frank, Lara Kinney, Nova Kowalski, Cassidy McConnell, Dale Ostrander, Joshua Ostrander, Julieann Parker, John Pluff III and Cierra Stone.
National Honor Society advisors are Becky Wagoner and Shaun Carter.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held for the members and their guests.
