The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District Chapter of the National Honor Society will hold an induction ceremony for new members at 7 p.m. Nov. 18 in the APW Junior/Senior High School auditorium.
The induction is open to the public and family and friends of the inductees are invited to attend.
Students in the junior and senior class have been selected for membership in the NHS based on several requirements.
They must have a grade point average of 90 or above and possess qualities of leadership, service and strong character.
Leadership is based on a student’s participation in school or community activities, or election to an office.
To meet the service requirements, students must have been active in service projects in the school or community.
Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics and cooperation with both students and faculty.
The National Honor Society was established in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.
The APW Chapter of NHS was established in 1971.
