PARISH – At last count, the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser has raised more than $7,690 with additional donations still coming in.
Recently, Meg Gibbons, youth marketing director for the American Heart Association, visited the school to thank the students for their generosity and to assist in the reward for the top two student fundraisers.
David Holst, top fundraiser for grades Kindergarten to three and Evan Young, tops in grade four to six earned the right to “pie” Dan Bryant, physical education instructor and coordinator of the Jump Rope for Heart at the APW district level.
In addition, two students’ names were drawn from those participating and won scooters from the American Heart Association.
Hunter Johnson, from the grade four to six group and Steven Esposito, from kindergarten to grade three group were presented with their prizes at the assembly.
The district, originally set a goal of $6,000, which exceeded last year’s money raised and seemed like “pie in the sky” thinking, but when the contributions started coming in, the coordinators were thrilled with the overwhelming support.
Now the question is, what will their goal be for next year?
