Area Students Honored for Academics at SUNY Canton


CANTON, NY — SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy and the College’s deans recently released the honor roll for the Spring 2009 Semester.

“Students who achieve the best marks at SUNY Canton typically treat their college education as if it were their career,” Kennedy said. “Their hard work and dedication will transcend their time with us and their success is indicative of the outstanding employees and entrepreneurs they will become.”

To receive President’s List honors, full-time students must earn a semester grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale. For Dean’s List, full-time students must receive a GPA of 3.25. Part-Time Honors are awarded to students earning at least a 3.25 GPA on six to 11 credit hours.

Among the students honored for academic achievement were:

* Katrina S. Rupracht of Pulaski, made Part-Time Honors. Rupracht is a Veterinary Science Technology major who is a 2005 graduate of Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School.

* Andrew P. Trumble of Fulton, made Dean’s List. Trumble is a Criminal Justice major who is a 2007 graduate of John C Birdlebough High School.

* Adam M. Prosser of Oswego, made Dean’s List. Prosser is a Criminal Investigation major who is a 2008 graduate of Mexico Academy and Central School.

* Stephanie E. LaRue of Oswego, made President’s List. LaRue is a Liberal Arts – General Studies major who is a 2004 graduate of Mexico Academy and Central School.

* Rebecca L. Tetro of Oswego, made Dean’s List. Tetro is a Early Childhood major who is a 2006 graduate of Oswego High School.

* Mark J. Talamo of Oswego, made President’s List. Talamo is a Management major who is a 2005 graduate of Oswego High School.

* Melanie I. Putman of Oswego, made Dean’s List. Putman is a Veterinary Science Technology major who is a 2007 graduate of Oswego High School.

* Aaron G. Foster of Constantia, made Dean’s List. Foster is a Engineering Science major who is a 2007 graduate of Paul V. Moore High School.

* Kari L. Williams of Hastings, made President’s List. Williams is a Veterinary Science Technology major who is a Unknown graduate of Unknown.

SUNY Canton offers a wide variety of career-driven bachelor’s, associate, and certificate programs, as well as three master’s degrees in conjunction with SUNYIT, Utica. Most of SUNY Canton’s new four-year programs are designed so students can take them on-campus, online, or both. SUNY Canton OnLine features more than 100 courses online each semester. The College’s athletic teams belong to the NAIA’s Sunrise Conference, enabling students to compete in their respective sports for four years. Construction is now underway for the College’s new Convocation, Athletic, and Recreation Center.
