The CNY Arts Center “Arts in the heART Gallery” has new things happening again.
It’s such a pleasure to see so many local talented artists with their work on display and for sale.
With such a convenient and great location at 47 S. First St. in downtown Fulton, it’s easy to stop in and check out all the amazing things.
Even if you have been there before, there are new artists all the time and new work from current artist.
October’s artist of the month is Barbara Ketcham, a lifetime resident of Central New York currently living in Hannibal.
Barbara has always been involved in some form of artistic endeavor, whether it was through drawing and painting or working in stained glass.
She belongs to many art organizations and has had her artwork displayed at various regional art centers and galleries.
As a self-taught artist, she has received several awards for her paintings and drawings, as well as her work in stained glass.
Her work is often influenced by the natural environment and personal life experiences.
Many of her works are an expression of her love of flowers.
Projects often begin with shapes or lines found in nature and she lets them evolve into larger abstract concepts.
Some projects begin as thoughts or ideas on social issues that she expresses through her work.
The majority of Barbara’s work has taken shape in more recent years, after raising her family and retiring from work in the public sector.
She works primarily in acrylics and prismacolor pencils, but she also uses multimedia in some projects.
Barbara’s work and many other artists can be seen at the gallery five days a week.
Come join in October 17 from 5 – 8 p.m. for the TH3 happy hour, with free food and beverages, raffles and meet with the artists.
The gallery is located at 47 S. First St., across from the gazebo.
