Henri Matisse, a French artist known for his use of color and his fluid and original designs, is regarded as one of the artists who helped define the avant-garde developments in the plastic arts and is responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture.

On display were diverse art pieces reflective of Matisse’s works including paintings, drawings, sculpture, graphic arts, paper cutouts and illustrations.

The show, organized by art teachers Karen Backus and Stacey Walton, included awards for artwork in the various mediums.
