Artimus Pyle brings an Evening of Lynyrd Skynyrd

Lynyrd Skynyrd’s former drummer Artimus Pyle brings the “Ultimate Tribute to Ronnie Van Zant’s Lynyrd Skynyrd” to Monirae’s on November 1. It is more than just a “tribute” to Lynyrd Skynyrd, it’s a tribute to the man that defined it. Artimus Pyle has said “If it wasn’t for Ronnie, no one would know my name.”

Since Pyle’s departure from Skynyrd in 1991, his career led him down an amazing path of solo records and projects culminating into one the finest tributes to southern rock royalty.

The Artimus Pyle Band is a high energy, true to the music, and true to the era rock group; one of the few that is on the road today. Artimus Pyle, Brad Durden, Jerry Lyda, Tony Black, and Scott Raines are not only a group of friends and contemporaries, but a group of the most seasoned musician in the southeast.

Long considered the “wild man” of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Artimus Pyle’s powerful and distinctive double bass drumming helped define the legendary Skynyrd sound. Artimus Pyle was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2006.

The Artimus Pyle Band was talk of 2011’s Rock Legends cruise, delivering hit after hit, night after night. From Freebird to Sweet Home Alabama, APB gives fans the best of Skynyrd with one of their own drummers (1974 – 1991), one who helped make them famous.

Artimus Pyle survived the tragic Lynyrd Skynyrd Band plane crash in 1977 that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines.

Special guests include CNY favorites Hard Promises and Lonesome Crow. Hard Promises is comprised of five veteran Central New York musicians featuring current and former members of Benny Mardones’ Hurricanes, Kane and the Joe Bonamassa Band.

Hard Promises provides one of New York’s best live classic rock shows. Lonesome Crow performs all the outlaw country and southern rock favorites. Band members have an extensive CD catalog and have toured the country extensively with successful bands such as Mad Jack, and recorded with Savoy Brown, among others.
