The CNY Arts Center has announced last month’s recipient of its volunteer recognition award.
The center, which provides a variety of arts programming for Fulton and its surrounding communities, relies on volunteers to assist with its many activities.
It recently initiated a volunteer awards program to acknowledge the work of those who contribute to the center’s mission and goals.
The Volunteer of the Month for June is Kendra Matott.
Kendra is CNY Arts Center’s studio arts coordinator, through which she offers a complete roster of exciting classes for all ages. Kendra is also the center’s Facebook administrator and keeps the studio arts pages active on its website.
“Kendra is an amazing volunteer that does so much for the center,” said Alice Lamb, program coordinator and volunteer recognition coordinator for the center. “She is proof that one person can make difference. We are fortunate to have her skills, professionalism, and dedication.”
Kendra has been fascinated with magic and fantasy since she was a young girl.
In high school, she took every art class she could, and it was there that she discovered ways to showcase her interest in fantasy.
Kendra went on to earn her Bachelors of Fine Arts from SUNY Potsdam, where her concentration was in photography, though she really considers herself a mixed-media artist.
Kendra is grateful to the CNY Arts Center for all the support and opportunities the organization has given her.
“Kendra is a tremendous asset to us and a leader among young artists whom we are dedicated to serving,” said Nancy Fox, the center’s director. “We greatly value her creativity and passion for the arts and the CNY Arts Center is proud to honor her as our June Volunteer of the Month.”
The center’s home is at the State Street Methodist Church, 357 State St., Fulton.
