Fulton announces “Arts Fest on the River” slated for July 9th in Fulton – on the river, naturally! A new arts group, Arts Partners, is making plans for the Saturday event to be held from noon to 7pm in Downtown Fulton one block off Rte. 481 overlooking the river. The goal of the Arts Fest is to give local performers and artists another venue to showcase their work and raise funds for CNY Arts Center.
The event will allow artists to display and sell their work. Promoters of the event are encouraging artists of every medium to participate as there will be ample room to display arts and crafts of any size or medium. There will be no entry fee to participate.
“The Arts Fest will promote performing arts as well,” said Nancy Fox, Coordinator of the event. “Singers, dancers, comedians, poetry readers, all performers and all ages are invited to enter a Talent competition to take place from 4-6pm, or perform without competing. Local citizens will serve as judges for the competition and prizes will be awarded for the top three acts.”
“There are many wonderful and talented artists in CNY and any opportunity we can create for them to display and sell their work is a rich benefit for the community,” Fox continued. “We hope to draw a variety of art mediums and offer a broad menu of the arts along with a full afternoon of local performers and entertainers – all arts, all ages.”
The new arts group in Fulton is raising funds and recruiting members to establish CNY Arts Center in Fulton that will have a positive impact on the community. “We believe the arts are critical to the future health and well-being of Fulton’s citizens, businesses and youth,” Fox says. “The family friendly event promises to be a highlight of our summer fundraising efforts to open CNY Arts Center in Fulton. The small park is a perfect backdrop for this event and will draw visitors to our beautiful river. The gazebo is a familiar location for summer events and we are eager to use this great facility to showcase the talent we have in central New York. It will have all the ingredients of a perfect summer afternoon – on the river!”
